Art Lab Manager-Ceramics

The UNM Art Department seeks an energetic, self-motivated, highly organized individual with exceptional ceramics and/or sculpture shop management experience and exemplary interpersonal skills to fill the position of Ceramics Art Lab Manager.   The Art Lab Manager will ensure the smooth and efficient functioning and the proper use and maintenance of materials, equipment, and facilities in a diverse Ceramics area, which supports traditions and innovations in utilitarian pottery, vessels, sculpture, installations, and community art, and specialized study in Pueblo Pottery and Arita, Japan Porcelain methods.   The selected individual will be responsible for conveying the proper use of equipment and supplies and training and supervising student employees, as well as monitoring the revenues and expenses of the Ceramics lab and be cost effective in purchasing materials and supplies. All of the above requires outstanding communication skills, both orally and in writing, and the ability to problem solve and make decisions based on sound judgment.  This is a full-time, benefits eligible position.

Employment Opportunity - Curator and Gallery Coordinator

Red Lodge Clay Center is pleased to announce a search for a full time Curator and Gallery Coordinator. The Curator and Gallery Coordinator will work closely with the Executive Director, Education and Communications Coordinator, and the Program and Facilities Coordinator to fulfill the mission statement set forth by the Red Lodge Clay Center.

The ideal candidate would have an extensive knowledge of contemporary ceramics, the ceramic medium, and previous gallery/curating experience. Sales experience, excellent communication and interpersonal skills are necessary. Strong office administration, business skills, and computer database knowledge are essential.

The Curator and Gallery Coordinator will be responsible for:

Curate and install gallery exhibitions
Maintain gallery website
Produce the Center’s monthly newsletter
Facilitate public relations and advertising
Monitor inventory and sales through the point of sale software
Maintain relations and communication with Represented Artists
