Call for 2013 Houston Conference Programming Proposals
Extended to Midnight MST, May 15, 2012

Did you know there were more than 60 presenters delivering nearly 200 hours of programming during NCECA's 2012 Conference in Seattle? NCECA seeks great programming concepts and presenters for the 47th Annual Conference in Houston taking place March 20-23, 2013.

The deadline proposals for lectures, panel discussions and Demonstrating Artists for NCECA's 2013 Conference in Houston has been extended from May 2 to May 15, 2012. Categories for proposals include Aesthetics, Critical Theory and PracticeArt History, Education, Professionalism, Technology and Sustainability, and New Work.

Visit
http://nceca.net/static/2013programproposals.php to review call requirements and prepare a submission. NCECA's Board of Directors will review proposals during an upcoming meeting taking place in Houston from June 6-9. Submitters of accepted proposals will begin to receive notice in late June.

Eligibility
Artists 30-years and older who have been working professionally for at least five years since completing their training are eligible to apply in the New Work category. Up to four artists will be selected to present a 15-minute visual presentation which must focus on a recent body of the artist's work which demonstrates a shift in ideas, approach, and/or artistic intent. The body of work that is the subject of the talk must have been completed within the last three years.

Eligibility for other program proposals is open to all with the EXCEPTION of those who received honoraria and participated in program presentations during NCECA's 2012 Conference in Seattle.  Participation is generally limited to only one presentation per conference. K-12 and Student Perspectives presenters who presented in Seattle, but did not receive honoraria are eligible to submit program proposals for Houston.

NCECA's Emerging Artists program is intended to give early career artists, who show exceptional promise, the opportunity to present their work to an international audience during NCECA's Annual Conference. Thanks to a generous gift from the Windgate Charitable Foundation, beginning in 2012, NCECA Emerging Artists also received increased exposure, publicity and a financial award from NCECA to help further develop their work and advance their careers.

Eligibility
Applications are welcomed from artists working with ceramic materials/processes as a significant component of their work. NCECA generally defines an Emerging Artist to be one who is beginning to receive recognition for their work but is currently underrepresented, has not had a one-person exhibition at a nationally prominent gallery/museum, and is creating work that offers a new/exciting/thoughtful perspective to the genre of one's work. Applicants may not be students. Applicants for NCECA's Emerging Artists must be current NCECA members at the time of application submission.
