NCECA COLLECTORS TOUR COUNTDOWN... 4, 3, 2,... SPACES REMAINING

marge

Even before NASA came to Houston, Grandpa used to tell me to "remember to remember what you know and remember to look for what you do not know." I thought of him while planning this NCECA Collector and VIP program in Houston. We all know clay and pots but Houston has amazing art collections, artist opportunities, well-traveled art experts and collectors, and art-rich institutions. So when you join this tour, you will see the familiar and the unfamiliar…and you will become different…and better. Makes sense to me. What about you? Hope to see you soon in Houston. Just a few places remain in this program. Call 303-828-2811 or email Jacqueline@nceca.net to reserve one of the few remaining spots today.

NCECA AT CAA AND GREENWICH HOUSE POTTERY IN NYC

Dylan J. Beck, Microwave Safe, 2011,
porcelain, underglaze, paint, steel, rubber, plastic

In February those in the greater New York City vicinity will have two chances to visit with NCECA… and both are free and open to the public. On February 15 we'll be at the College Art Association Conference and on February 16 we'll be at Greenwich House Pottery. NCECA presents an affiliate session at the College Art Association conference featuring 2012 NCECA Emerging Artist, Dylan J. Beck. Conference registration is not required for this session which takes place 5:30 pm, Friday, February 15 in the Petit Trianon (3rd Floor) at the Hilton New York located at 1335 Avenue of the Americas. At present, Dylan J. Beck is an Assistant Professor of Art and the Ceramics Area Chair at Kansas State University in Manhattan, KS. As a 2012 NCECA Emerging artist, Dylan was chosen to represent the organization by presenting a lecture at the CAA conference in NYC this winter. His research focus is on the interaction between built space and the natural environment and the idea that manmade landscapes express a society's material and political priorities. Dylan has received research grants for work with rapid prototyping as well as studio sustainability and efficiency modifications. Since graduating from Tyler School of Art, Temple University, Dylan has exhibited his work extensively. This summer he will present a solo exhibition at the Leedy Voulkos Arts Center in Kansas City, MO.

On Saturday, February 16 from 2-4 pm, Greenwich House Pottery will be hosting NCECA for a community reception that will also feature Holly Hanessian's Touch in Real Time event. Greenwich House Pottery is located at 16 Jones Street in the West Village. More details on this event will be coming soon.
