INVITATION TO ASSIST RESEARCH INTO THE NEEDS OF CRAFT ARTISTS

NCECA is joining CERF+ (Craft Emergency Relief Fund + Artists' Emergency Resources) to invite you to help take the pulse of American craft artists as CERF+ helps to sustain craft careers and works to prevent or reduce losses from emergencies.

If you are a professional, serious amateur, or student working in craft and/or craft-centric process and media, please follow this link to complete a quick and anonymous survey: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/2YFMXNK .

Your 20-30 minute investment to complete the survey will help National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) and CERF+ better serve you and our community of craft artists. Please respond today.

Sincerely yours,
Josh Green, Executive Director, National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) and Cornelia Carey, Executive Director, CERF+ (Craft Emergency Relief Fund + Artists' Emergency Resources)

More information about this research project:
This research, Sustaining Careers: A National Report on the Status of US Craft Artists, will update CERF+'s 2004 study. This research effort will allow CERF+'s board and staff to assess the needs of professional craft artists and inform their decisions about CERF+'s programs and services. The inquiry will also enlighten National Council on Education for the Ceramic Arts (NCECA) and the craft field as a whole about the needs, challenges and opportunities craft artists face as they work to maintain their careers.

With funding from the Wingate Charitable Foundation and help from Craig Dreeszen, a planner and former wood craftsman, what we learn from this research will help us strengthen and sustain the careers of professional craft artists throughout our nation. Thank you for your participation!

How CERF+ helps
CERF+ offers direct financial and educational assistance to craft artists, including emergency relief assistance, business development support, and resources and referrals on topics such as health, safety, and insurance. CERF+ develops, promotes, and maintains resources for emergency readiness and recovery that benefit all artists. CERF+ also advocates, engages in research, and backs policy that supports craft artists' careers. CERF+ is working with partner organizations to build a better safety net for artists across the United States. To learn more about our work visit: www.craftemergency.org and www.studioprotector.org

NCECA loves feedback! Was there something you particularly enjoyed about NCECA's 2013 Conference poster? Did you hang yours up for all to see? Perhaps you know someone who may also be interested in receiving this annual mailer? Maybe you didn't receive one this year after getting one over the last several years. Perhaps you just have some words of praise to sing or ideas to improve the graphic identity of Earth/ Energy, NCECA's 47th Annual Conference in Houston.

Send feedback to office@nceca.net on what you thought of our most recent posters! If you've received NCECA conference posters in recent years and missed getting one in the mail this year, we'd also like to hear from you.

P.S. Send us photos of creative use of NCECA posters in your studio environment. You may win a DVD and see your images appear in an upcoming Blog post!
