NCECA EXHIBITION GUIDE UPDATES

With the 2013 Conference nearly underway in Houston ceramic art exhibitions are opening throughout the region and clay creation is the top cultural story in the media. NCECA has been making continual updates to its online exhibition guide the most recent of which was modified on Friday, March 8, 2013. Along with our new conference app this pdf includes the most comprehensive and up-to-date exhibition guide resource available to use during conference. Consider downloading both just before or after you arrive in Houston.

Among the great exhibitions newly added to the pdf guide is Three Decades of West Coast Ceramics, 1956-1986 which showcases works from the rich Museum of Fine Arts, Houston collection of American ceramics made during this important period. Specifically, the exhibition focuses on teachers and students from seminal ceramics programs at four universities: the Otis College of Art and Design, Los Angeles; University of California, Davis; Chouinard Art Institute, Los Angeles; and University of Washington, Seattle.

Additional shows have been added in several venues in and around Houston's downtown area and we've added a list of shows within walking distance of the George R. Brown Convention Center near the beginning of the pdf.

HELP NCECA AND GET A NEW WHEEL

Thanks to the generosity of AMACO/brent, NCECA will have a Brent Model C Wheel available for silent auction during the conference! A bid sheet will be available at the NCECA information booth, and we already have an opening bid of $750 from Danny Meisinger. "I already have 10 Brent wheels in my studio for my own work and for classes. But when I heard about this opportunity to get another Brent while also benefitting the NCECA organization, I jumped at the chance!" You can see Danny in the AMACO booth at the back of the Resource Hall throwing one of his big pots during the conference. Then stop by the NCECA booth and place your bid. Proceeds from the auction go to support NCECA's 50th year fundraising!

NO CUP LEFT BEHIND

Unite your generosity with 4000 friends to legislate creative learning and development opportunities. Every year the NCECA community demonstrates its remarkable generosity through the annual NCECA Cup Sale – and Houston 2013 will be no exception! Don't forget to bring a cup, or several, as a donation. You can deliver your contribution from 9am-5pm Wednesday and Thursday in room 350 D-F of the George R. Brown Convention Center. At the 2012 NCECA Cup Sale in Seattle, over 979 cups enable NCECA to raise $23,499. Your cup can continue this great tradition of generosity in Houston in 2013. Be sure to return on Friday morning when the exhibit becomes a sale! All funds raised go directly to support NCECA developmental opportunities for students and artists! You can purchase cups on a first-come-first-served basis, although each person is limited to three purchases. Cash, checks, and credit cards are accepted.
